Pictures from the Reeves-Reed Arboretum Daffodil Day in Summit, New Jersey

If you didn't make it to Daffodil Day at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit, New Jersey today, here are a few of my pictures.
A view of the Daffodil Bowl as you approach from behind the great Sugar Maple with the Reeves-Reed home in the background.
A close-up of the Daffodil Bowl.
A different view of the Daffodil Bowl.
Another view of the daffodil bowl from the Reeves-Reed house.

A plaque reminding us: "In the weeks following September 11, 2001, we came together to plant daffodils on this site as a symbol of courage and hope for all." For those of you who are not from around here, we are a commuter town to New York City and we all lost relatives, friends and neighbors in the attacks.
A beautiful saucer magnolia overlooking the daffodil bowl.
A close-up of a daffodil combination that I quite liked.
A view from the parking lot. I love the way botanical gardens plant everywhere, particularly in the places that others accept as being unsightly.

I've enjoyed the tour of the arboretum. The visit was beautiful, moving and inspirational. Thank you.

Stunning! a true "host of golden daffodils." Planting something as memorial is such a beautiful gesture. Plants have the permanence and elegance few artist can rival. I lived in the NYC MTA when 9/11 happened. Unfortunately, the two children in my school who lost their parents were twins in first grade, who were Muslim no less. The entire school gathered to plant a cherry tree and hold a moment of silence.

Wow! This is sort of what I want my labyrinth to look like eventually.

I guess that that means I can't put off working on that project any longer. It won't look like that if I don't get busy and split some of my bunches up so I have more bulbs to plant in the "project".

At the risk of appearing to shamelessly promote my blog, if you like daffodils you might really enjoy this post, where I feature some of the wonderful ones I have collected over the years.
